Agape Nursery & Primary School was started by Agape Baptist Church in 2005. The school served as a Christian ministry to the children in Agape Children's Village and for the children and parents in Bukerere, Uganda. At that time the community only had schools with very poor academic standards. Agape Primary School grew to become a school of first choice in the area and its surroundings. Today it is still the only school in Bukerere offering Christ centered education.
Their Vision: Agape Nursery & Primary School's vision, to the glory of God, is to create a centre of excellence and national renown in high quality holistic primary education.
Challenges:
Soon after its formation, Agape Primary School prospered in ministry, education and discipline. The school served mainly the children in the local orphanage and the community which consisted of generally low income, rural families of mostly Catholic and Islamic backgrounds.
However, the area being near the urban centers, most low income clients have sold off their land and moved into cheaper areas. Because her traditional clients had moved on, Agape Primary School experinced a drop in school enrollment and revenues. As the community has changed, the school has faced financial hardships.
Goals:
1. To facilitate high quality holistic education by well qualified, well motivated consistently appraised, supervised and developed Christian staff.
2. Incorporate a biblical worldview and Christian education for staff, children and parents.
3. To raise the needed resources for the work and steward all resources with integrity.
4. Transition the school into a mixed day and boarding school
5. Raise a scholarship fund for current children not able afford the tuition
